About PacketProtectorPacketProtector is a free, open-source project aimed at bringing the best possible security to your wireless router. Our distribution includes a number of open-source tools, all of which are preconfigured with broadly useful settings. For example, Snort-inline is setup to block backdoors and attempts to exploit vulnerable clients (web browsers, media players, email clients). The firmware is built on top of the latest general release version of OpenWrt. New versions of the PacketProtector firmware are released 2-4 weeks after new versions of OpenWrt. Updates for the flash directory are released regularly, and include revised Snort rules and firewall scripts. Application updates (for OpenVPN, Snort, etc.) are also rolled into the flash directory releases. We look forward to incorporating your ideas into future versions of PacketProtector.
